It turns out that one of the most impressive tech demos from Siggraph 2007 is already in Photoshop CS4.

Content-aware scaling lets you resize photos without cropping or stretching. Instead, It just compresses the least interesting parts of the image.

Confused?

Check out this video (skipping the first minute if you don't want the backstory)

When I hovered over that link, the ads in the snap preview were:
# 3D Animation
#
# Breast Enlarge
#
# The Sims

# Cerebral Palsy
#
# e Learning
#
# Payday Loans

I don't know if this is from youtube or facebook. Anyway, I can see the relevance of "3d animation" (since this is about graphics software) and even to some extent "breast enlarge" (since this is about resizing) but I don't think I would have ever expected even two of these ads in the same place, let alone all six.

I've seen similarly varied results out of gmail.

To some degree it's probably due to advertisers who don't know how to use keywords very well.

Also note that many of the "related videos" from that page are on more varied topics, including one on (surprise, surprise) breast enlargement.

Now does video
