Travel polygons

This is the convex polygon that encloses every place I've been to.
I've visited many places inside the polygon (Japan, Korea etc) but the vertices of the polygon are the furthest-out places I've been to.



The red area represents my current travel polygon. The purple area represents my travel polygon as of 10 years ago. Methinks Cairo and Dubai would make nice additions.

What does yours look like? If you're one of those lucky people who's traveled around the world, you get to figure out how to deal with the whole "earth is round" problem in constructing your polygon.

To make yours, just go to google maps, take a screen grab, and then edit it in your favorite paint program.

Hmm, it would be nice if someone automated this so it looked nicer. I decided to deal with the "round the world" thing by counting eastwards and westwards trips separately (and not counting the trip around the world when I was 2 or 4 or something). My polygon from 10 years ago is the smaller eastwards one. I didn't make the whole thing convex (because that would make it uninteresting looking) but took the union of the convex polygon in North America, a convex westwards one, and a convex eastwards one. (Except that I think it ended up slightly non-convex at Tokyo and Puerto Rico.)

Hey, thanks for posting your polygon. I have more recently noticed that if you right-click on a Google Map you can draw polygons on it, so that makes the whole process a lot simpler.
