Goodbye Bush, hello Obama

I went to Yerba Buena gardens to watch the inauguration live. This shot is from about 20min after Obama's speech, as the remainder of the crowd (including a couple of nice girls with awesome pants) watches to ensure that Bush and Cheney are, in fact, leaving.
I was impressed that Obama managed to work in energy policy (stopping our dependence on unsavory foreign governments for fossil fuel) into the first two minutes of his inauguration speech. That, combined with policy plans enumerating ideas similar to the plan put forth by Google.org, gives me a lot of hope that we will see a lot of progress out of this administration in terms of a pro-technology, pro-science approach to solving our nation's problems. I have less hope for various other liberal and libertarian social issues that I care about, but frankly, they are not as high a priority right now as some of the other problems facing our nation.
