Dappled sunset over San Francisco

I took a sunset walk with weiskind around Bernal Hill in San Francisco on a bitingly cold day shortly before sunset. We were freezing but we watched in pleasure as the sun shot through various holes in the clouds, illuminating various slivers of the city.




While walking back, I said "It would be awesome if the sun hit just that one smokestack." A couple of minutes later, it did.

The clouds in that first picture especially are amazing! I'm not used to seeing clouds like that in California - normally it's either a featureless blue sky or a featureless sheet of grey. Clouds like that I associate with the midwest, or east.
