I spent a miserable evening surrounded by massive messes of stuff (4 1/2 months of unread mail, unfiled taxes, a poor desk setup, bags of clothes, boxes of electronics and office supplies...), a room full of tasks screaming for attention.

My first task:  Get the hell out of there, go to a cafe, and spend a few hours reading Getting Things Done.  I bought the book shortly before leaving on my trip, and it was in the special kit that past-me prepared for present-me to come home to.  I'm reasonably impressed with past-me, as he left me a pile of boxes that allowed me to set  up temporary residence at a place of my choosing for a month without getting a moving truck.  However, past me had selfish reasons for doing so -- it allowed him to live in the old house for a few days even after the moving truck left.

Even so, I appreciated the gift box to myself.  Its highlights included Getting things Done, Refactor Your Wetware, keys and cards to a whole lot of good places, and an iphone.
