[travel] More on freediving
Apr. 8th, 2009 08:49 amIt turns out the area I'm staying in is a major center for freediving.
Here are some videos of freedivers... the first two feature a man and a woman diving down 165 ft, going through a 90ft long underwater arch, and then coming back up again, all in a single breath:
A woman crossing the arch using a big monofin -- With the monofin she looks like a mermaid. Her movements are incredibly fluid and beautiful.
A man crossing the arch (no fins!) -- He does long slow strokes to conserve energy.

And here's a video of the slightly ridiculous, completely insane category of no-limit freediving, where the diver can use any means necessary to get down and back. He goes down almost 600 ft.
