Unconferences rock!

I just attended Convergence 08, a conference spanning a wide variety of disciplines including biotech, nanotech, artificial intelligence, and other areas.  It's essentially a large group of very smart people who get together and share their ideas with one another.  However, instead of being a standard "one speaker + large passive audience" format, it's more like Burning Man, where everyone is encouraged to participate and spectators are dis.  Anyone can propose or hold a talk, so at any given time, there are like five good talks to choose from.  Since the talks are smaller (5-40 person audience), the talks are much more interactive.  I also gave a talk on 3D computer vision and did an interview for H+ magazine. 

So I've had two full days of this, and my brain is vibrating with excitement.  I really like this group.
