Mics Hwy 101 sightings: Superheroes at work... and when cops go postal
On my drive home from the airport today, I saw an orange road sign that said "LANDSCAPING AHEAD", except that half of the sign had fallen off so it just said "CAPING AHEAD" I pictured legions of superheroes getting fitted for costumes by the side of the road.
Separately, I saw a mid-1990s blue-green minivan with police lights on top. I was mystified .... I thought civilians couldn't use flashing blue lights. As I got closer, I saw that someone with poor graphic design and color choice skill had put blue and red lines along the side of the car as well as a vinyl sticker saying "POSTAL POLICE" in a color barely discernable from the minivan's blue-green. Inside the minivan was a serious, burly-looking guy in a police uniform. Who knew the postal service had their own police?
