Augmented reality in cellphones

There's an interesting New York Times article about the beginnings of augmented reality programs that lay data onto the real world as seen through your cellphone's camera.  Thus, you can read about local businesses while looking at them.

Matt has this great program like this for his Android phone that shows the stars and constellations that you're pointing at. For this application, GPS is certainly accurate enough, because the stars are so far away that your view is basically the same even if your location is off by several miles. I think it has planets and things too.

I expect a lot of very fun stuff using augmented reality tech.

This is going to be a boom area over the next few years. :-)
