I arrive in America tomorrow.

I've decided to go to the Canada part of America first and visit a friend in Toronto. It turns out there's a walk-across border crossing into the US at Niagra Falls. Once I get across, I'll make my way to the Buffalo airport and then get my free flight out.

I've been mostly excited about entering the next phase of my life upon my return, but today I finally felt a bit of sadness that my 4 1/2 months of world-hopping adventures are coming to an end.

Out of curiosity, what is the next phase of your life? Could you go back to an office environment after traveling the world for so long?

My current plan is to surround myself with an intellectual sandbox of interesting ideas and creative projects and then play around for a few months until I come up with a good idea for a business.

Yeah, not the typical office environment!

I can imagine it's bittersweet. But yay Canada!

Sadness at the end of such an epic journey is quite acceptable, I would think. Perhaps even a hallmark of it having been amazing and the right thing for you to do for yourself.

I wonder how the journey will impact your life going forward, and as others noted, how you approach your future career opportunities and environments. And will you come to see these current days not as an ending, but rather as a transition?

I look forward to catching up with you and comparing notes on so many things!

Welcome home!

Welcome back to America Matt! I'm sure that the best 1000-2000 pictures from your trip will make one of the most kick-ass montage stories ever.

May the next phase of your life be fun, prosperous, and give you contentment.

Welcome back to America! Love Niagara Falls. While you're there, close your eyes and just listen to the noise that they create.

The bridge that you'll be walking across is the one I crossed back over into the US with while on my Northern Tier bike trip. If you get the chance, try to view the falls from the US side too. The dichotomy of the two sides is interesting.

Looking forward to seeing you again. :-)
