Whether or not you agree with the message, it's still a very well put together image.

Clearly I enjoyed doing this sort of compositing in my Halloweaster party decorations.

Certainly well-done, though I don't have a firm grasp of the message. Something involving China and its race to become a superpower, I'd guess?

The fuel pump at the heel is interesting; implying that oil availability will be China's weak point?

Basically, yes. I'm assuming this ran during the Olympics, so it mixes the Olympic imagery of striving for superhuman performance with China's push to become a superpower. I also agree with you on the Achilles Heel fuel pump imagery.

This reminds me a lot of Kara Walker's work: http://www.slate.com/id/2177536/

I didn't know about her. Now I do. I liked the slideshow. Thanks!

:D you're very welcome! I discovered her via that slate article and ran into her work yesterday at the chicago museum of contemporary art, so she was on my mind.

Also, just clicked on your link, what a cool party idea. I especially liked the decapitated bunny and vampire bunny.
