Tanks are thick solid metal, and weigh over a hundred thousand pounds, so I assumed they only could move on land on their own power.  However, it turns out there is in fact a truck heavy enough to carry a tank.

Have a look... this thing has at least 24 wheels that I can see.

I remember seeing those on one of the History Channel/Discovery Channel military shows. The US version is the HETS. I always find military logistics stuff fascinating, probably at least in part because it gets less coverage.

Wow. It has less horsepower (500) than some sports cars. I suppose sports cars are dramatically overpowered for driving around in bay area traffic. :-)

Yeah, military logistics is interesting. Apparently they are looking at hybrid technology and other fuel economy raising techniques for some military transport vehicles because it is expensive and dangerous to transport large amounts of gasoline to battle sites.

My brother has a tank, with a driver. He also has a hummer with a driver. If we go to visit he might let you ride in it. I don't know the rules for civilians.

Yes, but Iraq is kinda far away.

Oh, you mean San Diego. Right. They won't let the hippie in the tank... I might stuff flowers inside the gun barrel or something. :-)

Yeah, I don't think we're allowed in. I don't know if he has one in SD, maybe only the rock.
