[travel] Universal translator

I ran across a product that lets you quickly communicate basic concepts to anyone, no matter what language they speak.  It's cheap and requires no batteries.  In fact, it uses centuries-old technology. 

The downside is that I'd have to get over its extreme cheesiness factor to actually use it.
