It's interesting... I was trying to understand why the colors and shapes of the glass pieces felt so organic. I eventually realized that the way that glass is blown and worked has some resemblance to the biological process of cell differentiation that occurs as an organism grows. When the glass/organism is compact, color textures are created. Then, as the glass/organism expands, these textures expand unevenly, creating the lovely organic patterns and striations you see on the final forms of the glass/organism.
